Nada Shamah began her career in communications after graduating from Columbia College Chicago. She worked in the areas of print, television and radio. She joined CURE Illinois after seeing a need for prison reform, both in the state of Illinois and across the country. After a family member was sentenced to a lengthy prison term, Shamah saw firsthand the injustices that plague the criminal justice system. She hopes that in teaming up with CURE Illinois, she can aide in their mission to promote transparency and ensure quality in the system. She believes that by aggressively striving for change, prisoners will be given the proper treatment that leads to their rehabilitation and release. These men and women can then reenter a world where they will be contributing members of society and stay on the right track. She hopes to use her background in media to inform society, spread the word and reinforce the mission of CURE Illinois.
